David Lynn Lovett

David Lynn Lovett, 80, of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Services for David will be private.

David was born on September 6, 1945, in San Diego, California, to the late Willard Lovett and Jeanne Slagle. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1966, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Following his military service, David obtained his bachelor's degree and went on to enjoy a fulfilling career in sales. He worked for many years as a sales representative with Lowe's Home Improvement, where he was known for his dedication, professionalism, and easygoing manner.

David was a longtime resident of Cape Carteret and enjoyed birding, fishing, playing cards and going to bingo.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Diana Hoyle (James Delay) of Cape Carteret, NC; brothers, Matthew Slagle (Donna) of Vermillion, OH and Michael Slagle of Columbus, OH; grandson, Darien Delay of Cape Carteret; granddaughter, Crysta Hoyle of Los Angeles, CA; great-granddaughter, Alaina Lynn Gordon of Los Angeles, CA. David also was also an uncle and a great uncle of many.
