Katherine Faye Hood Oswalt, age 91, of Columbus, MS, passed away August 6, 2025, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Danielson officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service and also right after the graveside committal in the fellowship hall of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Oswalt was born April 5, 1934, in Lexington, AL, to the late Bruce and Ninna Mae Moore Hood. She retired from United Technologies and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Oswalt enjoyed gardening and antiquing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Oswalt, son, Chris Ervin Oswalt, brothers, J. D. Hood and Copal Hood, sister, Oretta Bigham, and brothers-in-law, Robert Oswalt (Joan), Billy Oswalt, and Willie Ray Oswalt.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Oswalt and his wife Doylene of Columbus, MS, daughter, Gayla Butler and her husband Thurston of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Summer Walker (Alan), Jamie Bishop (Josh), and Lauren Moorman (Cole), great grandchildren, Claire Walker, Charlie Walker, Laina Bishop, Joshua Bishop, Carter Bishop, and Lettie Bishop, brother-in-law, Terry Oswalt (Mona) of Harrison, AR, sisters-in-law, Linda Fultz of Brandon, MS, and Lawanda Oswalt of Lake City, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Mark Oswalt, John Inmon, Neal Oswalt, Carlton Oswalt, Keith Oswalt, and ZacharyOswalt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Ellis, Robert Quick, Kent Fultz, Ryan Oswalt, Scott Oswalt, Ronnie Oswalt's Sunday School Class, and Faye Oswalt's Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Place Retirement Community, 300 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS, 39702, or Legacy Hospice, 1111 Stark Rd., Starkville, MS, 39759.
