Faye Evelyn Ritter, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025 in Kiowa, Kansas surrounded by family. Faye was born to Howard and Rena Mantz Daughhettee on October 17, 1944 in Hardtner, Kansas. She married Richard Ritter on September 4, 1971. To this marriage Faye brought two children, Jeanette Schwerdtfeger and Howard Brian Schwerdtfeger. Faye helped her dad with the harvest for several years and then became a cosmetologist. She owned her own shop, then worked for several others, including El Dora’s Beauty Shop for years, then retired from there and went to work for V.A.P. in Alva. Upon retiring from there, Faye enjoyed doing things with Richard and with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids in sports activities and family get togethers.
Faye is survived by her loving husband, Richard Ritter of Cherokee. She is also survived by their two children, Jeanette (Craig) Brattin of Kiowa, Kansas and Brian (Laneta) Schwerdtfeger of Aline, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Charley and Nikki Brattin of Kiowa, Kansas, Joey and Rae Brattin of Kiowa, Kansas, Ashlee Arnold and Tom of Chicago, Illinois, Kolby and Kelli Arnold of Cherokee, Austin Guffy and Trenton of Wakita, Jess and Landon Schanbacher of Cherokee, Nicole and Trey Johnson of Cherokee, and Jeremy, and Kasha Unruh of Greensburg, Kansas; sixteen great grandchildren, Makenna, Heston, and Cooper Brattin of Kiowa, Kansas, Liam and Koen Brattin of Kiowa, Kansas, Sahmiya Arnold of Chicago, Illinois, Kaysen, Kyler, and Kendrik Arnold of Cherokee, Knox, Kreed, and Kip Guffy, Lyle and Grady Schanbacher of Cherokee, and Journee Johnson of Cherokee, Carson, Charlston, and Finnan Unruh of Greensburg, Kansas; her sister, Gaynell Cordray of Enid, and many other family and friends.
Faye is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Rena Daughhetee; her sister, Marjorie; her brother, Max, and infant son, Kendall.
Funeral service for Faye will be Friday, April 11, 2025 at Cherokee Methodist Church in Cherokee, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m. with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee.
