Mrs. Faye Malphurs Vaughn, age 92, of Bland, FL, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on March 23, 1931, in Bland, to York Lanier Malphurs and Huldah (Rivers) Malphurs. She was a lifelong resident of Bland and a 1949 graduate of Alachua High School. After high school, Mrs. Faye went to work for the Alachua County Clerk of the Circuit Court for 11 years until she married the love of her life, L. Millard Vaughn. After marriage, Mrs. Faye became a full-time farmer’s wife, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and excelled at. She was best known for her gift of care giving, agift she extended to family, friends, neighbors, and the whole Bland community. She was a lifelong member of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Millard Vaughn; her parents, York and Huldah Malphurs; and her brothers, Tommy and Lamar Malphurs.
Mrs. Faye is survived by her children, Lynne (Craig) Kurimay of Franklin, NC and Tim (Dana) Vaughn of High Springs; her grandchildren, Rachael (Jorge) Bernal, Katie (Joshua) Lubben, Faith (Jackson Hamnond) Kurimay, Ryan Hoyt, and Brittany (Cory) Scott; her great-granchildren, Charlotte, Sam, Preston, Ryleigh, Jaxson, and one on the way; her sister, June Register of Bland; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
A funeral to honor Mrs. Faye’s life will be held on Saturday, February 17 at 10:00 am at New Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie Blalock, Bro. Fritz Fountain, and her pastor Bro. Terry Elixson officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, February 16 from 6 -8:00 pm at the church. Her interment will immediately follow her services in the New Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
