Felipa Martinez Moreno gained her angel wings on Monday, May 26th a few minutes after midnight on her 83rd birthday. Felipa spent 83 wonderful years spreading joy to all around her. A comfort to many and a joy to all, most of her time was spent taking care of her family, her friends, and her community.
Felipa’s life began in Stamford, TX on Tuesday the 26th day of May in 1942. She was the daughter of Refugio and Angela (Diaz) Martinez. Felipa completed her high school education by earning her GED and continuing her education at cosmetology school where she earned her license and worked as a beautician in the 1970s. She was also employed at the sewing factory for a few years. On May 8, 1964, Miss Felipa Martinez was united in marriage to Mr. Domingo Moreno at St. Ann Catholic Church in Stamford.
Felipa was talented in many aspects of her life. She mastered being an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. When Felipa wasn't working, she spent time in her garden tending to her flowers and cooking. She always made sure the grandkids left Stamford with her homemade burritos when returning to college. Filipa was also a caregiver for her husband who preceded her in death on July 4, 2003. Not a day went by when Felipa didn't talk about how much her children and family meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life. Felipa was also devoted to working in her church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Ann Catholic Church.
Felipa is survived by her loving children, son and daughter-in-law, Demectrio and Sally Moreno of Stamford, TX and daughter Minerva Ballesteros of Abilene, TX; 5 siblings, Dario Martinez and wife Elenor of Garden City, KS, Connie Estorga and husband Julian of Watauga, TX, Francis Alvarez and husband Ray of Stamford, TX, Sofia Martinez and husband Frank of Manhattan, KS and San Juana Gonzales of Durham NC; 5 grandchildren, Zenaida Moreno, Orlando Moreno, Santana Moreno, Gracie Ballesteros and Ivan Ballesteros; 5 great grandchildren and countless additional family and friends. Felipa was predeceased by her husband Domingo, an infant daughter, four brothers: Leon, Manuel, Enrique and Jose Martinez, one sister Mary Martinez and one granddaughter Abigail Ballesteros.
