It's been almost a year now, and Lion Felix will be memorialized again at our annual Lions District convention coming up in two weeks, It's my honor and pleasure to write about him for that service. It's also hard to edit down what to say because he meant so much to all of us in our club and our Lions district. Let it just be said here, then, that our memories continue to be filled with many, many great pictures of all the special times we were fortunate enough to have him share with us.

Dear Felix, I love you and I miss you. From 1969 when I was 13 and we moved across the street from you on Fashion Avenue, I always knew you were somebody special. You made quick friends with each member of our family (the Mortons). You hired just about all us kids to work for you in the food service at LB Brethren Manor. Working as your secretary when I was 20 is when I really got to know you thru the many stories you told of your life in Louisiana and your Navy adventures. It was a small office, so I had no choice but to listen (just kidding). I had no idea then that we would marry in 10 years and have John and a Jennifer together. I didn't know how much we would come to mean to one another and to depend on one another. Truly opposites, you were the life of the party and I was the shy wall flower, but somehow we made a good team. We had our disagreements of course, but I've come to learn that everybody does. Thank you for trying so hard to support us and working so hard. You were a good provider. We almost made it to 32 years of marriage. I would wish you back if I could, but you were not living life on your terms these last few years and I couldn't ask you to spend one more day. Your free and pain free now and in a much happier place. I know you will be watching over us all and nudging us in the right direction. Thank you for keeping your promise and letting me know you are still here with me. I know we will be together again. You will live on thru all of us who loved and knew you. I love you Felix. Love always, your wife, Pat ("Baby").

Remembering the life of Felix Franklin Jr. who recently passed. Mr Franklin took a chance and gave me my first job at the age of 14. He, along with Hazel Calhoun and Catherine Culp, employed a lot of us in the Wrig and through the tough no nonsense leadership they showed, we learned about responsibility and integrity in your job. He is also the only guy to ever fire me...he later hired me back. I learned a lot of life lessons in that job for most of my high school years. A retired Navy vet, he was also an influence in my military decision. RIP Felix.

Felix was a true gentleman, kind, caring and gentle. For 30 years he was one of my Lions Club best friends. He did me the very great honor of being the first woman he would allow in his kitchen for Lions Club bbqs and wild game dinners. On the day his brain tumor was removed, I was having eye surgery. We promisedr that we would go under the anesthetic praying for each other, we did, and both procedures were successful. His passing leaves a hole in my heart.

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. I'm forever grateful that the reason (meeting and marrying my grandmother) turned into a lifetime of you being my Papa Bear, despite the fact that your season with her ended.
It takes a special man to do what you did. And every day I am grateful that you chose to be my grandfather.
Love you to infinity and beyond.

Daddy I love and miss you so much. I think about you every minute of everyday. Thank you for giving me a great childhood and involving me in every hobby you had. Lions club cookouts, bowling night, trap shooting, hunting, fishing or cooking we did it all together. You are my best friend as well as my father and I will cherish our memories for the rest of my life. Anytime I am fishing or hunting I know you are right there with me smiling and laughing that crazy laugh. I will always hold you in my heart daddy. I love you.
