Felix E. Miranda

Felix Enrique Miranda Thomas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 19, 2025, at the age of 79.
Felix was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador in January of 1946. He was the son of Angel & Brigida Miranda and was one of 4 siblings. In his youth, before emigrating to the US from his home country of Ecuador, he served in the Ecuadorian military and also worked on the waterfront shipping docks. Felix married Lidia Garces in 1969, at the age of 23, and soon after received his visa through a skill-based lottery. He arrived in NYC and worked at a factory assembling vacuum cleaners during the day and at the shipping docks at night. Felix soon earned his GED and began a career in the garment district. He worked at Alcor Lace for over 25 years - a lace company where he started in the delivery department and ended up as top salesman and trusted advisor to the company president. After a recession, Felix remained working in Manhattan in maintenance for the next 20+ years before retiring.
Felix was a hard worker with the goal of pushing his family forward - always open to a side hustle and always entrepreneurial. He came to this country with nothing, made a life for his family, and put 3 daughters through college - his biggest pride and joy. In being the first in his family to come to the United States, he was able to help countless family members also start their journey to the US in pursuit of the American dream. Felix was a man of many passions but his love for soccer surpassed all, always rooting for his home team Emelec. He played in soccer leagues for the majority of his life, finally hanging up his cleats in his 60s.
He had a love for his music (boleros, tangos, cumbia, and classic salsa), his beloved Ecuador, his countless friends, reading the newspaper, bold colors and looking sharp, horse betting, lotto tickets, his Marlboro cigarettes, and most of all having a good time. He lived his life his way and never had any regrets. Felix is survived by his 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. We will forever cherish his memory with love and gratitude.
The family will be present on Sunday, October 26th, 2025 from 2-7 PM at Ruggiero & Sons Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Services - 732 Yonkers Avenue- Yonkers, New York 10704 (914) 375-1400 www.FRSWFH.com. Cremation will take place privately.
