Ferdinand L. Klockgether, 80, passed away at his home in Altus, Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. There will be a graveside service held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022, in the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa.
Ferdinand Ludwig Klockgether was born on April 16, 1942, in Ute, Iowa to Gerhardt and Edna (Miller) Klockgether. He was baptized and later confirmed his faith at the United Church of Christ Church in Schleswig. He attended school in Ute and later married Mary buck in Nebraska on September 7, 1968, and to this union two daughters were born: Deanna and Brenda. Ferdinand was a farmer and a mechanic most of his adult life. On May 17, 1982, Ferdinand married his second wife, Phyllis Dowell in Deming, New Mexico and to this union a daughter Bambi, whom Ferdinand adopted, and a son, Aron, were born. They shared 37 years together before her death in 2019. Ferdinand was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of animals, guns and shooting, and fishing and tinkering.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; parents, Gerhardt and Edna; brother, George Klockgether; grandson, Brandon King; and granddaughter, Lisa King.
Left to honor Ferdinand's memory are his children: Deanna Jones and husband, Chris; Brenda King and husband, Toney; Bambi Mitchell and husband, Monte; Aron Klockgether and wife, Amanda; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Henry Klockgether and wife, Evelyn and Viola Klockgether; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
