Fermin Perez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Andersen Morgan Funeral Home - Chicago on Jan. 16, 2026.
Fermin Perez Jr.

Born May 7th 1958 – Died January 14th 2026

Fermin Perez Jr., 67, of Chicago Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2026. A man of immense courage and a vibrant spirit, Fermin's life was a testament to resilience, family, and the pursuit of the American dream.

Born in Cuba, Fermin took a monumental leap of faith in 1980, leaving his homeland during the Mariel boatlift to build a new life in the United States. Though he embraced the opportunities of his new country, Cuba never left his heart; it lived on in the salsa music he danced to, his sharp sense of style, and the stories he shared with pride.

In 1982, Fermin met Hermelinda Perez, whom he married in 1984. He took great pride in raising his stepchildren, Ivette, Esmeralda, and Moises, and together they welcomed his daughter, Maria, and his son, Fermin III.

In 2004, Fermin found love again when he met Daisy Cruz. They were married on Valentine's Day in 2006, a date that reflected his romantic heart. Through this union, he was blessed with three more step daughters, Sorina, Melissa, and Natalie. To Fermin, family was defined by love rather than blood; he was a pillar of strength and a devoted father to all eight of his children.

Known affectionately as "El Negron," Fermin was a man of quiet strength and joyful rhythm. He worked hard to provide for his family, but he always found time to celebrate life through good food, great company, and his love for fashion. He leaves behind a rich legacy of treasured memories for his wife, his children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Fermin's journey-from the shores of Cuba to the hearts of everyone who knew him-is now complete. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Services will be at Andersen Morgan Funeral Home. January 18th From 3:00pm to 7:00pm. 3234 W North Ave Chicago IL 60651
