Fern Acuff, went to be with her Lord on February 17, 2024, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis, New Mexico, at the age of 103 years. Fern was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma, on August 19, 1920, to Charles Eugene and Myrtle Rebecca Bell (Beamgard).
Fern had dedicated her life to nursing and worked for Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales, New Mexico for several years. Later, she went to work for Dr. Dabbs as a nurse. After many years of working for Dr. Dabbs, Fern decided to go to work for Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico, where she would later retire. She was also a faithful member of Parkland Baptist Church.
She enjoyed her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sunday was a day for family in Fern's home. The entire family looked forward to Sunday, having dinner and listening to her tell stories of her and her brother, Clarence, and the mischief they would get into together as they were growing up. Her family will miss her dearly.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Myrtle Bell, five brothers, James, Lyle, Bill, Leslie and Clarence Bell and a son, Dennis Acuff.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Patsy) Acuff, her granddaughter , Ashley (Justin) Metcalf, her grandson, Christopher Shane (Amanda) Acuff, step-grandson, Randall Allmand, six great-granddaughters, Rebecca, Brittany, Elizabeth, Katie, Chloe and Sydney, two great-grandsons, Xavier and Jack.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Retirement Ranch.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Lawn Haven Cemetery, with Pastor Wayne Boydstun officiating. There will be a lunch held at Parkland Baptist Church following services.
