Mrs. Fern Nadean Downey

Fern Nadean Downey passed away June 26, 2013 at the Westview Care Center at the age of 99.She was born to Earnest Gibson and Clara Ellen (Bassett) Adamson on February 25, 1914 in Pleasantville, Iowa. Fern was united in marriage to Loren Bruce Downey on November 13, 1929.From this union five children were born; Norma, Dwight, Duane, Gary and Darrell. Loren and Nadean were employed at the Anderson-Erickson dairy as mechanics. Loren and Nadean moved from Des Moines to Indianola where they ran a garage and filling station on Highway 92. In 1955 they moved to Springfield, Missouri where they had a garage and filling station. Nadean moved back to Indianola in 1962 with the three boys, Duane, Gary and Darrell and was employed at the Crouse café as head pie maker. Upon retiring she traveled and performed with the 'Music Makers' in Indianola. Preceding in death were her parents, her husband Loren, brother Cecil Adamson and one great grandson. Survivors include her five children, Norma Hahn of Hudson, Florida, Dwight (Dixie), Gary (Jill),Duane (Barbara) and Darrell (Sandra) Downey all of Indianola, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, 10 great - great grandchildren and many friends. Norma had just visited her mother on the 25th of June before returning home that day. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church, 1700 W. 2nd Ave. in Indianola. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. until service time.
