Fernande "Julie" Allain-DeMattia, born on April 20, 1931, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, passed away at the age of 94 on August 13, 2025, in Riverview, Michigan. Fernande was a cherished daughter of the late Abraham and Juliette Allain and was preceded in death by her siblings, Jeannine, Raymond, and Claudette.

Fernande dedicated her life to nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in singing, cherished reading her Bible daily, and had a passion for ice skating. A devoted member of Bread of Life an organization who fed the homeless throughout the city of Detroit, Fernande's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She also loved speaking the French language to all that would listen.

She is lovingly remembered by her family: her son Constant DeMattia and his wife Elizabeth, and her adored granddaughters Olivia, Mia, and Ava. Fernande's warm presence and generous spirit will be greatly missed by her family and friends, with whom she loved spending time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Pitt-Hopkins Foundation in memory of Fernande. May she rest in peace, surrounded by eternal love and grace.
