Fernando Flores Obituary

Fernando Higareda Flores

January 7, 1974 - November 21, 2021

Fernando Higareda Flores, age 47, of Abingdon, Va., formerly of Oaxaca, Mexico, left us unexpectedly. He will always be remembered with the big smile and laugh that characterized him. You were our strength in the darkest times ~ there was no one like you. Fernando was a great husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who will always live in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Maria Louisa Flores Jimenez; and mother-in-law, Wanda Pugh. Fernando is survived by his wife of 14 years, Laura Elizabeth Pugh Higareda; madre, Irma Flores Jimenez; padre, Agustin Lazcano Garcia; hermana, Lorena Higareda Flores; hermano, Rene Lazcano Flores; hermana, Anali Lazcano Flores; aunts, uncles, cousins, and several special nephews.

A funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 7 p.m. at Abingdon United Methodist Church, 101 E. Main St., Abingdon, Va 24210, with the Rev. Paul Seay officiating. Pallbearers will be Tate Pugh, Ryan Leadbitter, Guillermo "Peewee" Mendoza, Juvenal Palmeros, Eduardo Luciano Marquez, and James Walls. Dan Doherty will serve as an honorary pallbearer. A reception will be held on Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in Oaxaca, Mexico.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to defer the cost of final expenses, including transportation to Mexico with dignity.
