Fernando Torres, 47, passed away on January 10, 2025, in El Paso, Texas. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Fernando's family at www.andersonbethany.com.
There will be a visitation at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary to begin at 6:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with an interment to follow at South Park Cemetery. A memorial cruise will take place after the services, and before the interment, the Torres family would like to invite all who loved Fernando to participate in a final show of love for him.
Fernando was born on February 5, 1977, to Fernando and Guadalupe Torres in Houston, Texas. He married the love of his life, Juanita Torres, on February 14, 2011, and they have spent a beautiful 32 years loving each other.
Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Fernando are his mother, Guadalupe Torres; wife, Juanita Torres; sons, Fernando Torres II, Miguel Torres (Raquel), and Boom Mi Rey Torres; daughters, Merien Torres, Mia Torres (Michael), and Carisma Torres (Jose); grandchildren, Julian Torres, Xenaveah Torres, Joshua Melendez, Michael Candelaria, Maveah Candelaria, and Jose Gomez; sisters, Pearl Torres (Miguel), Chiquis Baxter (Traven), Liz Garcia (Cassie); brothers, Javier Torres, Manuel Garcia (Nicole); nieces, Larissa (Joe), Damaris, Vanessa, Aliyha, Anastasia, Maribel, Anabel, Sandra, Jade, Brianna Olivas, and Angelina Meads; nephews, Lou (Naomi), Toy (Vicky), Traven Jr., Justin, Jordan, Javier, Jericho, Manuel, Zekiel Olivas, and Elijah Quintero; sisters-in-law, Lisa Lujan, Sonya Olivas (Mario), and Charlotte Barrera; and one brother-in-law that he was extremely close to, Jerry Jay Barrera.
Fernando is preceded in death by his father, Fernando Torres Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Maria Villalobos; grandfather, Gregorio Torres; maternal grandmother, Maura Garcia; Andres Garcia; mother-in-law, Beatrice Vargas Najar; nephew, Zion "50" Olivas, and brother, Thomas Baca.
Fernando was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandpa, uncle, friend, and a one-of-a-kind friend. He loved spending time with his family, discadas, and his low riders, jamming out to oldies and corridos, having a variety of dogs, and having a great time. His favorite holidays were the 4th of July and New Year's; he was like a big kid when it came to fireworks; you could find him having the most fun shooting them off. Fernando was the shoulder to cry on for anyone who needed him; anyone could go to him for advice, and while he was never one to take advice, he could surely give it. When he needed to relax, you could find him in his room doing some of his favorite hobbies, like cleaning his guns; they were always squeaky clean, and smoking weed; that was the good life of Fernando Torres. He will be missed by so many but never forgotten.
Blessed to be Honorary Pallbearers are Merien Torres, Mia Torres, Carisma Torres, Pearl Torres, and Chiquis Baxter.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Fernie Torres, Miguel Torres, Boom Torres, Javier Torres Sr., Manuel Garcia, Liz Garcia, Frankie Jo Meads, and Johnny Meads.
Fernando's tribute was written in his honor by his family.
Let me raise a toast to the man I love the most
a lover, a fighter, this man was both.
Skin tough as steel, with a heart made of gold
last time I seen you, your eyes were closed.
My whole world got dark and it turned ice cold
Loving you was easy but letting go is not
I hang my head in disbelief, I never would have thought
In quiet moments, I feel you near,
your presence is known, you're still right here
Now you're at peace, so lay down and sleep
you were mine to love but not to keep
I know you are standing with our beautiful King
A Warrior behind him, you have the biggest wings.
