Fernando Zayago Castillo, age 46, of Ligonier, born on July 19, 1979, in Apan, Hidalgo, Mexico, passed away on October 18, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He lived a life filled with passion and dedication, marked by his love for family, sports, and faith.
Fernando’s enthusiasm for soccer was a significant part of his life. As a teenager, he not only played the sport but also nurtured his deep admiration for the Pachuca soccer team, remaining a loyal fan throughout his life. His love for the game was not only about competition; it was a way for him to connect with friends and share joyful moments, embodying the spirit of teamwork and community.
In his professional life, Fernando was known for his unwavering faith and commitment to his community. He proudly served as a Pastor, making a profound impact on the lives of those around him. Two years prior to his passing, he took on the significant task of planting a new church, which became a testament to his dedication to his faith and his desire to help others find solace and strength.
Fernando is cherished and remembered by his loving wife, Sarai Zayago; sons: Ian Zayago and Zak Zayago. In addition he was step-father to Allen Abad and Elsie Abad; mother, Ma.Carmen Castillo Millán; grandchildren, Odette Abad and Omari Abad; sisters, Virginia Zayago Castilloand Mirna Zayago Castillo; half-sister, Maria Gabriela Lozado Sarai ; nephews, Nathanael Daniel Martínez Zayago, Katheryn Abril Martínez Zayago, Derek Isaac Martínez Zayago, Jessica Eva Ávila Zayago, Erick Jair Lopez Zayago, Fernando Gabriel Lopez Zayago, Samantha Lopez Zayago. His family was the crown jewel of his life, and he devoted much of his time and affection to nurturing strong family bonds. Fernando is preceded in death by his father, Margarito Zayago, and his step-son, Adam Abad. He will be deeply missed not just by his family but by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, as his warm spirit and kind heart touched many lives. Fernando leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and community service that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
A Life Celebration® visitation will be held at 12 noon-8pm on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Iglesia Sinai, 1213 E. Lincoln Avenue, Goshen, Indiana. The service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Indiana. Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1001 S. El entusiasmo de Fernando por el fútbol fue una parte importante de su vida.
