Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home - SnyderMr Ferrell Bryant, 88, a devoted father and Papa, passed away on Saturday, Jan 24, 2026. He was born December 22, 1937 in Scurry County to George F and Grace Bryant.
With big dreams, he left his beloved hometown of Ira and moved to Arlington to pursue his future wife, Dena Dupree, and an Electrical Engineering degree and masters from University of Texas – Arlington made possible with Texas Utilities’ co-op program. From a meter reader in Snyder to an electrical engineer planning the grid for the booming metroplex and supporting the computing needs of Comanche Peak, Ferrell loved his time with Texas Utilities. He was also an adjunct electrical engineering professor at UTA.
In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and church friends from Good Shepherd United Methodist. He is survived by his children: Jana (Drew) Dodson and Paul Bryant; grandchildren: Nikki Banner (James), Jordan Bryant (Kasandra), Christian Dodson, Wesley Dodson, Mark Dodson, and James Dodson; and great grandchildren: Sura Banner and Ferrell Bryant.
Easy to love, smart, and patient describe Mr Bryant well. According to him, there wasn’t a better place than his hometown of Ira. He would share the 6-man football scores on Sundays with his church family. Recently, he moved to an assisted living facility in Richardson where he quickly made friends and became the bingo champ. And, boy, did he love westerns - anything with Audie Murphy or John Wayne especially. So relax over a cup of coffee with plenty of Italian Sweet Cream and catch up on a western or two as you let fond memories of Mr Bryant bring a smile to your face.
A memorial service for Mr. Bryant will be held Saturday, February 7 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Arlington followed by a funeral service March 7, 1:00 PM visitation, 2:00 PM service at Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel with Reverend Sheila Fiorella officiating. Burial will follow at Ira Cemetery.
