Fidel Martinez, 81, entered into eternal rest on February 11, 2024 in El Paso, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Arnulfa Martinez. His siblings, Juan Martinez and Maria Del Refugio Waters. Fidel is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Martinez. Son, Fidel A. Martinez; daughters, Lydia Esther Morales, Elizabeth Martinez, Diana Khan and Deana Murillo. His siblings, Salvador Martinez, Pedro Martinez and Noemi Terazas. Also leaving behind 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren to honor and cherish his memory. Fidel loved reciting poetry, whistling and singing his favorite gospel songs. Especially in the shower and the neighbors can vouch for that. He enjoyed making people laugh. At a very young age he was a shoe shine boy and a bagger at grocery stores. A bit later as an evangelist with his mother, Arnulfa Martinez, embarked in spreading God's word and became a youth pastor. At the age of 21 he worked at Wrangler where he met his beautiful wife, Lydia; whom have been married for 56 years. Throughout his life he had many different occupations and was known as "El Firo". He worked in a variety of construction projects such as the El Paso Civic Center and Beaumont Army Medical Center. A couple of years at the oil mines in New Mexico and in several garment manufacturers as a fabric cutter. His last place of employment was at Holiday Products which he really enjoyed. Fidel was very loved and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr., El Paso, TX 79907. A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas. A Graveside will then follow at 1:30 PM at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79938.
