Finis Merl Spier, 90, of Texas City, suddenly left this life Thursday, September 12, 2024. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends.

He was born to Wimberly and Georgia Mae Spier and was the youngest of 12 siblings. Finis grew up in East Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Leta Jane Gray, in 1955 and had missed her dearly since her passing in February 2023. He retired from Union Carbide as a pipefitter in 1996. He spent his time for many years playing his fiddle and steel guitars and making many things in his woodworking shop. He also enjoyed going to Whataburger and hanging out with his friends.

Finis had recently moved in with his son and was enjoying the fresh air and the relaxing scenery there. Finis loved God and enjoyed his many years as a member of First Assembly of God Church in Texas City. He will be missed by his family and friends, especially his longtime neighbors.

Finis leaves behind his son, Robert Spier; daughter, Tresa Ervin; grandchildren, Robert Spier Jr., Madison Garrett and husband Anthony, Amy Ervin, and Brian Ervin; great grandchildren, Taylor Spier, McKayla Spier, McKenzie Spier and Landon Garrett.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the First Assembly of God Church in Texas City.
