Finus Gibson Jr. July 6, 1940 – September 11, 2025 Finus "Nink" Gibson Jr., 85, of Stamping Ground, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 6, 1940, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Dorothy Black Gibson and the late Finus Gibson Sr. Finus was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Wayne Gibson, and his beloved grandson, Senior Airman Tanner Wayne Young.

A proud graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Finus earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture and carried a lifelong love of trees, flowers, and all of God's creation. He retired after a long career as a construction Superintendent, overseeing major highway projects across the country. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and exploring nature, often sharing those passions with his children and grandchildren. Finus was an active member of Laborers' Union Local 189 for 47 years (ten days shy of 48 years). Finus was a devoted member of Great Crossings Baptist Church. He held a deep love for his church, especially for his Sunday school group, who were like family to him and a constant source of friendship and support. Finus never met a stranger. He had a way of turning his firm handshake into an immediate friendship. People were naturally drawn to his easygoing personality and charming character.

Finus leaves behind a family who adored him: his brother Roy D. Gibson; sons Ken Gibson (Vicki), Rodney Gibson (Angie), and Brian Gibson (Alyson); daughters Marian Fine (Joseph), Julie Young (Bobby), and Jina Gibson-Hurst (John); grandchildren Rebecca Fine, Rachel Fine, Colin Gibson, Courtney Gibson, Alex Gibson, SaraVard Von Gruenigen, Max Hurst, Kyle Gibson, Madison Gibson, Tyler W Young, Big Tyler Young, and Zach Young; great-grandchildren Palmer, Campbell, Tanner, Lula Kate, and Ken Tuck; and his dear friends Wayne Robey and David B (David Glass).

Finus was a man of deep faith, quick wit, and a heart that welcomed all. His love for family, his playful sense of humor, and his gift for turning a simple moment into a lasting memory will continue to live on in the stories and laughter of those who knew him best. "He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside quiet waters." (Psalm 23:2) Now he rests in the eternal beauty he loved so deeply.

Honoring his wishes, Finus will be cremated, with a memorial service to celebrate his life at Great Crossing Baptist Church, 1061 Stamping Ground Rd, Georgetown, KY, on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
