91 year old, Firman K. Walker, of Rensselaer, passed away January 7, 2025, at Parkview Haven in Francesville, Indiana.
On February 21, 1933, Firman was born to Arthur Pearl and Leota Beth (Obenchain) Walker, in Jasper County, Indiana. Firman graduated from Wheatfield High School, class of 1951, where he was very active in sports, and where he met the love of his life, JoAnn Stanton. They were married on February 21, 1953 in Crown Point, Indiana. Firman then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in France. Upon his return he was a farmer, and an accountant for Calumet Construction. JoAnn & Firman went on to raise their three boys at the Walker farm in Rensselaer, Indiana. They were active members in their community, taking part in bowling leagues and the VFW.
Firman is survived by his loving family, children: Arthur (Cynthia) Walker of Rensselear, David (Jody) Walker of Fort Wayne, IN, Daniel (Uriel Cano) Walker of Denver, CO., 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, siblings: Mary Whaley of Brook, IN, Gerry (Barb) Michael of Rensselaer, IN, Paul (Ann) Walker of Wanatah, IN, and sister-in-law: Retha (Dobson) Walker of Rensselear.
Firman was preceded in death by his loving wife: JoAnn, and siblings: Charles Walker, Amy Blanch, Lila Cortez and Arthur Walker Jr, all of Rensselaer.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Firman will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Griffith officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wheatfield Pentecostal Church of God, Wheatfield, Indiana.
