Flora Reeves Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Officer Funeral Home, PC - East Saint Louis on Feb. 9, 2023.
LIFE REFLECTIONS
Flora J. Reeves was born in Crawfordsville, Arkansas on August 23, 1922 to the late Louis and Stella Beckley. She departed this life Tuesday, January 24, 2023. She spent most of her life in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was preceded in death by: both parents; her husband, John Reeves; four brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Reeves graduated from Lincoln Senior High School and completed the requirements for an Associate Degree from Belleville Area College. She was employed by the United States Federal Government and retired from Scott Air Force Base where she worked in the Contracts Unit for more than thirty years. She was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed knitting and crocheting gifts for her family and friends.
Flora Reeves was a loving mother and wife and "Nonnie" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Reeves was a lifelong member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Board, Usher Board, Sick and Shut-In Committee, and in the Choir. She also taught Sunday School and was actively involved in Vacation Bible School. She often traveled with Friendship on missionary trips to foreign countries, including Jerusalem and the Dominican Republic. She was blessed to live one hundred years and was honored by her family, friends, and Pastor and Mrs. Tonnie Bradford at a joyful celebration in August 2022.
Mrs. Reeves departed this life January 24, 2023. The power of her faith was primary in her life and, unlike others who walked into Heaven, she ran full speed to a Paradise for which she had prepared all of her life.
She is survived by: her three sons, Archie (Betty) Reeves, Dr. Alan (Bernice) Reeves, and Anthony Reeves; eight grandchildren, Eric Reeves (Annette), Ricky Reeves, Tiffany Reeves, Stephanie Reeves, Jason (Janene) Reeves, Myla (Joshua) Jones, Christopher Reeves, and Andrea Terrill; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; loving sister, Eula McCleod; beloved nephew, Dr. Steven King; "play-daughter," Delora Smith; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
