Flora (Flo) Talley

Flora was born on August 6th, 1927, in Greenock, Scotland and passed away on August 9th, 2025, in Kingsport, Tennessee, 3 days after her 98th birthday. She married Peter Fleming in Scotland, and moved to Toronto, Canada in 1956 from Scotland. Their only child Jeremy was born in 1957. Flora moved to Tennessee in 1968, and married Dayton Talley on June 18th, 1977.

Flora worked multiple jobs during her lifetime. She worked as a telephone operator in Scotland during World War II. Another one of her jobs was at the Girl's Club in Kingsport, where she taught her love of sewing. She loved going to the Moose, the VFW, and the Eagles with Dayton.

Flora told her family of many memories she had of growing up in Scotland such as hearing the buzz of bombs going overhead during World War II and the many dance contracts that she won. She made many beautiful outfits and decorative items for people and for the Eagles to raffle off.

Flora is survived by her only son Jeremy Fleming and wife Patti; granddaughter Melissa Hembree and husband Russ, great-grandsons Noah and Oliver Hembree; multiple step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and step-great-great-grandchildren; as well as multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years Dayton E Talley, who was a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Tennessee Eastman; her parents Charles and Mary McKechnie; step-son Bill Talley; step-daughter Jane Smith; and three sisters Addie, Mae, and Anna.

Special thanks to Maggie for all her assistance during the last couple of years.

There will be a small private service at a later date.
