Flora Thornton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Willis & Sons Funeral Home on Nov. 30, 2024.
Mrs. Flora L. Thornton
Flora Lee Thornton was born on August 3, 1930, to the late Percy and Daskie Jordan in Bladen Springs, Alabama. Flora attended Bladen Springs Alabama school district schools. She later moved to Mobile, Alabama, and met L. J. Harris. From this union, there were eight children, Deborah Fears, Helen Harris, Larry Harris, Arthur (Mary) Harris, Benjamin Harris, Lenora Harris, Janice Harris, and Jerry Harris. She later moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where she united in holy matrimony with the late Albert Thornton. Flora became a homemaker and worked for the Boone Family for many, many years, until she retired.
Flora enjoyed cooking, baking, and grocery shopping, because she loved cooking and feeding her family. She also enjoyed outings to get her nails done and going to the casino. Flora was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Daskie Jordan; husband, Albert Thornton;
son, Jerry D. Harris; all seven siblings, Joshua Jordan, Johnny Jordan, Charlie Jordan, Percy Jordan, Jr., Jimmy Jordan, Bernice Bennett, and Willie Jordan; two grandchildren, Jenice Harris and DeMarus Harris; two great-grandchildren, Alvondus Kyles and Journee Baylis; and three nieces, Felicia Jordan, Denise Jordan, and Linda Tippett.
Flora leaves to cherish seven children, Deborah Fears, Helen Harris, Larry Harris, Arthur Harris, Benjamin Harris, Lenora Harris, and Janice Harris; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; family and friends; the extended family Helen Boone (the late Dr. Walter Boone and the entire Boone Family); and goddaughter, "Smith." A special thanks to Priority One, Accent Health, Dr. Sherkoni, Ms. Shirley, Dr. Mock Muhummad, St. Dominic Hospital, Jeff Carter, and Quettia McGee.
