Florece was born February 4, 1943 in Lake Providence, LA and passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025 in Downsville, LA. Rere Lived in Monticello, in East Carroll Parish from birth to 2020 – then moved to Downsville and resided there with her son Randy until her death. She was raised in a country grocery store in the Elmwood community on the bank of Joe's Bayou. Tragedy struck her family at the young age of 12 when her father Pete Sikes had a heart attack at the age of 44 and passed away. At the age of 16 she married Ralph Coleman and had her 3 children: Randy, Penny, and Kelly by the age of 20.
Rere was the most loving, kind, selfless person one could ever meet. She was all things to all people extending grace and love to everyone. She was beautiful inside and out. She dressed for success and was neat and always an eye catcher. She had the most beautiful smile and welcoming personality. She was a friend, a true friend to everyone. She had a beautiful spirit, one that was contagious. We will forever remember the joy of her infectious laughter. She was comical and witty. She knew how to have a great time even if it was just, you and her.
Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. She was never too busy to take care of those in need and lived a sacrificial life for her family. She was a homemaker and most excellent cook. She could throw a meal together for a group of 10 cowboys in less than 30 minutes and the food was superb to say the least.
Rere was a worker committed to doing her very best for the well-being of her family. She had no hobbies, was not part of a social circle and never took time for herself. Her pleasure came from serving her family. She loved her family without limit. There was nothing she would not do to provide above and beyond for her family. She was a GIVER to the Core.
Rere spent 20 years operating her hair salon named Bayou Beauty Boutique – of which Ralph named for her. In the mid 80's she became employed with the East Carroll Parish School board as a computer proctor and served there until retirement. As mentioned earlier, Rere was a lover of all people – her love for everyone was authentic and was not based on ethnicity or social status. She treated the janitor and the superintendent equally.
Rere was musically talented. She loved music and sang to the kids often. Her mother, Rita McCarty (or Granny), and her entire family enjoyed playing and singing country & western music. Rere loved the McCarty family singing, the Monticello Jamboree, & the Southland Opry in Alexandria. She enjoyed the Oak Grove Theater Music Sessions, going to Nashville, and visiting the Grand Ole Opry. Rere also sang with her husband Ralph and the family band, The Western Sounds, frequenting the church for homecomings and fellowship singings.
Rere knew Jesus as Lord. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at around 18, was baptized in Joes Bayou, and became a member of New Hope Baptist in Monticello. After moving to Downsville, she was a faithful member of Piney Woods Christian Church where she was adored by many. Rere Loved Jesus. In her last days she was in constant prayer. She prayed without ceasing. If she thanked the LORD for her Salvation and her family once she thanked him for at least 1,000. She would literally pray for hours without a break. Her prayer was the LORD would come get her and make sure the entire family would accept JESUS as LORD. Rere loved worshiping and listening to the gospel. She made sure the people closest to her knew Jesus and she prayed a million prayers for others. She was a prayer warrior that lived the character of JESUS CHRIST!
