Obituary published on Legacy.com by Givnish Funeral Home - Marlton on Apr. 12, 2025.
Florence "Flo" Bacho (nee Turcovsky) passed away gently and peacefully April 9, 2025, just 5 days shy of reaching her 95th birthday. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she lived a life full of grace, faith, and unconditional love.
Born on April 14, 1930, Flo was a lifelong Catholic whose unwavering faith guided her through every chapter of her life. She was the beloved wife of Jim, her high school sweetheart. They were married on August 23, 1952 and shared 67 wonderful years of marriage-a true testament of enduring love and partnership. Together they built a family rooted in compassion, faith, and joy.
She was the cherished mother of four children, the proud grandmother of 14, and the adoring great-grandmother of 4. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she embraced every role with warmth, humility, and a quiet strength that inspired all who knew her.
First and foremost a wonderful cook and talented homemaker, Flo also supported her husband's entrepreneurial endeavors while they raised their family by being the chief bookkeeper for 40 years for Nursery Park Gulf Service in Valencia, PA, doing payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and many other acts of supportive assistance. After her children were older and without skipping a beat, she simultaneously kept the books for the Gulf station and worked full-time in the Accounting Department of North Pittsburgh Telephone Company in Gibsonia, PA.
Flo and Jim loved their "couples' club" when their dearest friends got together occasionally in the evenings and played cards, went on weekend getaways to Aquamarine Lodge, ventured across North America on a spectacular train trip, and experienced the beauty of Hawaii together. They especially found joy when setting out on regular summer adventures in the station wagon, trailer in tow, loaded with their 4 kids and "Grandma Kosky" (Flo's widowed mother and best friend). Flo's favorite trips included annual family fun in the warm ocean in Myrtle Beach or Florida, as well as an extended cross-country trip to California with many stops along the way. When she wasn't busy working or traveling or homemaking, Flo really enjoyed crocheting, making many beautiful blankets using her favorite shell pattern. She was the best at making delicious nut rolls for every holiday, grad party, wedding, and all other family gatherings.
For many years and up to the very last few months of her earthly life, Flo volunteered for her church by lovingly embroidering hundreds of baptismal garments that have been placed upon countless children during their sacred Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church. She thoroughly enjoyed using her gifts of gentle handiwork and creative spiritual support. Each stitch was a prayer, and her beautiful craftmanship became a treasured keepsake for each family.
Flo was an exceptional mother and humble role model to Nancy (Jeff) Kenny, Alan (Anne) Bacho, Anita (Mark) Schmidt and Jimmy (Gayle) Bacho Jr. She was proud to be "Grandma Flo" of 14, seven boys and seven girls: Alan, Marybeth, Stephen (Hayley), Teressa (Eric), Felicity, Alan Jr. (Bridget), Carolynn (Kevin), Stephanie (Ron), David (Emily), Nick, Derek, Mike, Andrea (Andrew) and Lauren. Flo was blessed to become a great-grandmother to Charlie, Isla, Riley, and Anastasia.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband, Jim (2020), and their sons, Jimmy (2016) and David (at birth), as well as her parents, Mary (Mitrick) and Joseph Turcovsky, and her brother, Bernie. Flo is survived by her brother, Dan (Diane) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Flo was a woman of quiet generosity, deep devotion, and simple, enduring love. Her legacy will live on in the faith she nurtured, the unconditional love she gave so freely, and the traditions she cherished and passed along to those she knew and loved.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, April 27th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, April 28th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Givnish of Marlton, 398 East Main Street,
