Florence E Brook

Florence E. Brook, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023, with family by her side. Mrs. Brook was born on June 19, 1936, to Algot and Florence Svenson in Oceanside, Long Island, NY, and grew up in Valley Stream with her older sister, Evelyn. In 1954, she graduated from Valley Stream Central High School, where she was the Drum Majorette in addition to many other activities. After graduation, she entered the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and subsequently worked as a legal stenographer at the General Electric Company headquarters in New York City.
She met the love of her life, John Brook, on a blind date in 1955, and they married in 1958. Twins Kenneth and Richard were born in 1959, and Ronald in 1966. Florence was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. All who knew her will miss her calm and sweet disposition.
In 2016, her movement became constrained due to progressive supranuclear palsy, and she and her husband, John, moved to the Brookdale Jones Farm Senior Living in Huntsville, AL. The family is forever grateful to the loving caregivers who helped take care of her while there.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John W. Brook; her sister, Evelyn Granger; her sons, Richard, his wife, Heather, and family, Vance, Trevor, and Derek in Texas; Ronald Brook and family, Kathleen, Caroline, and Ronnie in Alabama; daughter-in-law, Tami Brook, and family, John Brook in Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kenneth; and daughter-in-law, Cherie Brook.
