Florence C. Ervin, age 97, of Marion, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 6:46 pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor in Marion.
Born on July 5, 1928, in Marion, Indiana, Florence was the daughter of Francis and Naomi (McLain) Shaver. She was a lifelong resident of Marion and dedicated her life to her family, faith, and community.
Florence devoted many years as a homemaker, raising her children and managing her household with love and care.
A devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Florence was actively involved in various church and community groups. She was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO), sang in the Easter Pageant Choir, served as a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother, and played the organ for her church. She also served as the Director of St. Martin's and was known for her artistic talents--especially her love of drawing. Florence enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, sharing her creativity and joy with those around her.
Florence is survived by her children: Pam Arrendale of Marion, Angela Williams, David S. Ervin, John (Donna) Ervin, Chris (Angie) Ervin, Denise D. (Patrick) D'Spain, and Cindy (Dennis) Creech. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph A. (Mary Lou) Shaver, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi and Francis Shaver; her sons, Charles L. Ervin Jr., Tim Ervin, and Daniel L. Ervin; her brothers, John, Jerry, James, Robert "Bobby", and Glenn Shaver; and her sisters, Polly Martin, Janet Bingle, and Phyllis Downing.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Needham-Storey -Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Florence's life will begin at 4:00 pm. Burial will take place at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery.
