Florence I. “Flo” Silva, 71 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho, with her family at her side.
Florence was born on June 5, 1952, in Santa Rosa, to the home of Arsenio and Dora (Flores) Sanchez. Florence was raised in Santa Rosa and Puerto De Luna. She attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, Santa Rosa High School and Luna Community College.
Florence married Joe Sliva on August 10, 1968 in Santa Rosa, NM. Florence’s work experience began with the St. Rose Rectory. She then worked at Teeter’s Insurance Agency and with Farmer’s Electric for the past 32 years.
Florence was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, she was a member of The Catholic Daughters, Altar Society and Girl Scouts. Flo loved to cook and loved the company of her animals. However, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family.
Florence is preceded in death by her parents: Deacon Arsenio and Dora Sanchez, husband: Joe, sisters: Monica and Rita Sanchez, father and mother-in-law: Tacho and Lina Silva and sister-in-law: Pat Sanchez.
Florence is survived by her children: Robert Silva (Lisa) of Tijeras, NM, Rhonda Silva (Jesse), Joey Silva (Crystal) —both of Santa Rosa and Johnny Silva (Brenda) of Albuquerque, NM, grandchildren: Victoria Silva (Franco), James Jones (Shannon), Joseph Silva, Anthony Silva (Stephanie), Heather Silva, Logan Silva, Kailey Silva, Donna Silva, Valerie Silva (Bianco), Deanna Alarid, Jazmine Silva, Brooke Silva, Angelina Silva, Mason Cast (Lauren), Alexis Silva, Amanda Silva Funicelli (Cody), Darren Lucero and Matthew Silva.
Florence is also survived by her siblings: David “Hossie” Sanchez, Gloria K. Sanchez, Martha Sanchez (Buck), Michael Sanchez (Julie), Mary Clare Tafoya, Michelle Sanchez Harrison (Dubs), Frank Sanchez (Bonnie), Christine Delgado (Richard) and Santiago (Jimmy) Sanchez (Jessica), 31 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 21, 2024 beginning at 9AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, with Father Moses Nwankwo officiating the service.
Interment of cremains will follow at Nuestra Señora Del Refugio Cemetery in Puerto De Luna, with Abel Chavez, Darrel Gomez, Diondra Chavez, Pablita Abeyta and Betty Terrell serving as Urn Bearers.
