Florence Rasmussen Johnson

Florence Rasmussen Johnson passed away October 17, 2022 in Soda Springs, Idaho.
Florence was born 14 July 1931 to Carl & Vonda Keller Rasmussen in Mink Creek, Idaho. Her early years were formed around the death of her mother when she was 2 years old and her brother was 3. She and her brother, Junior Rasmussen, stayed with their Grandma Rasmussen in Lago or Grandma Keller in Mink Creek until in 1938 her father married Beryl Beckstead and they settled in the Grace, Idaho area. She dearly loved her brothers and sisters.
Florence graduated from Grace High School in 1949 and on July 12, 1949 she married Howard D. Johnson in Grace. Howard was in the Air Force and stationed in Texas. They lived in Texas for 3 years. They returned home to Grace and built a life of service to their community. Howard and Florence have four children, David H. Johnson (Betsy), Van R. Johnson (Lianne), Jill Peterson, (Neils), and Lance D. Johnson.
Florence was active in her church and always answered a call for help or service that was needed. She loved her family and her aunts and uncles and serving them as well. Florence is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions for the church.
Howard & Florence lived in Logan, Utah for about 18 years. And while in Loga she received Employee of the Year from USU Physical Facilities Department. Also, through the University, she participated in two Humanitarian Service trips to Moscow, Russia in the 1980's to teach the employees at a childrens hospital how to clean.
Florence's giving and helping nature were evident in the countless pies, meals, and quilts that were given to many people throughout her life. Florence was taught to work young and was a hard, relentless worker. She cleaned houses, started a painting business, worked in the potatoes every year, starting as a young girl, and painted for most of her family and extended family and many in the community. She had a special love for older people and spring cleaned her Grandmothers' houses for years.
Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Johnson, a baby daughter, her parents, Carl & Vonda Rasmussen, and stepmother, Beryl, a great grandson, all her uncles and aunts, two sisters and a brother. Her brothers and sisters are Beverly Rasmussen, deceased, Junior Rasmussen (IlaMae) both deceased, Maxine Hildred, deceased, (Larry), Alan (LuDene) Rasmussen, and Lynn (Glenna) Rasmussen. She leaves four children, fourteen grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Sims Funeral Home, Sunday October 23, between 6:00-8:00 pm and a Graveside program at the Grace Cemetery at 1:00 pm Monday, October 24, 2022.
