Florence Johnston ObituaryMrs. Florence (nee Lollar) Johnston, 87, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 21, 2024, at Penrose Hospital in
Colorado Springs, Colorado. Florence was born on March 23, 1937, in Myrtle, Mississippi, to John Carroll and Ocie Gladys (nee Christopher) Lollar.
As the youngest of eight children in a farming family, she learned the values of hard work and perseverance early on. After moving to Joliet, Illinois, she met and married Robert LaVerne Johnston on June 14, 1957. Together, they welcomed three children and made their way to the Colorado Springs area in 1972. Florence dedicated her career to serving others, working in the medical records department at St. Francis Hospital and various doctors' offices. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ was a source of strength, guiding her actions and interactions. Florence found joy in tending to her yard, playing Yahtzee, and sending thoughtful greeting cards to family members. She cherished family time and embraced the beauty of exploring Colorado. Her passion for history was showcased through her involvement in the Rocky Mountain Gunslingers.
Florence is survived by her three children, Patricia Welch of Pasco, Washington, Robin Johnston of

Additionally, she is lovingly remembered by five grandchildren, Richard (Dionne) Welch of Vancouver, Washington, Teresa (Archie) Coleman of West Richland, Washington, Nicole Welch of Roundup, Montana, and Liam and Seamus Johnston of Divide, Colorado, along with nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
