Florence Joy Robinson Kaisen, 89, of Colfax, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Hospice Home at High Point.
Florence was born in Queens NY and grew up with her sister, Doris. She studied mathematics at Queens College. While at Queens College, Florence also worked as a software engineer and programmer at Remington Rand; she was a pioneer in developing back-office, payroll systems for large NYC corporations.
After meeting the 'love of her life' on a blind date, she married Harold Kaisen and joyfully raised three children in Huntington, Long Island. Florence and Harold built the lake house of their dreams on Lake Wallenpaupack, PA in 1965. The family enjoyed skiing at the local ski slopes and lake sunsets for over 55 years.
While living in Montville, New Jersey, Florence was very active in the Lake Valhalla community and in her church. She contributed as a church secretary for many years. She also utilized her technical computing talents by automating vendor management at a local tool & die manufacturer.
Florence and Harold retired to Carolina Trace in Sanford NC and enjoyed many years of golf, travel and friendships in this thriving community. During this time, Florence developed her artistic talents as an amazing carver and became known for her beautiful birds, especially ducks, owls and cardinals. In her later years, Florence moved to River Landing in Colfax, NC with many of her dear friends and enjoyed a loving community.
Florence will always be remembered for her radiant smile, delicious pies, beautiful bird carvings, and graceful presence. We will always carry memories of her loving kindness and friendship in our hearts.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Kaisen (Sheila); daughters, Dori Vallis (John) and Valerie Kaisen; sister, Doris Olson; grandchildren, John Vallis (Sarah), Kristin Vallis Hall (William), and Ryan Kaisen; and great grandchildren, Ember Joy Hall and Willow Grace Hall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gordon Kaisen.
Services will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 10:00am at River Landing. LIVESTREAM CLICK HERE Passcode: Saint
