Florence Powers, 81, of Scottsburg, Indiana, a beloved mother, sister, and dedicated caregiver, passed away on June 14, 2025, at Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on May 6, 1944 in Crothersville, Indiana, to the late Irvin Sweet and Elizabeth (Link) Sweet. Florence dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a Nurses Aide at Hanover Nursing Home, where her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on countless residents and their families. A past member of the Lexington Christian Church and Honeytown Christian Church in Seymour, Indiana, Florence found strength and community in her faith. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Fluhr, Sr.; one son, Edward Fluhr, Jr.; four brothers, Robert Sweet, Irvin Sweet, Jr., Ricky Sweet, and James Sweet; and her longtime companion, Gary Allen. Florence is survived by four daughters, Edna (Tim) Robbins, Reva (Richard) Atkins, Paula Howard, and Tabatha (Jeremy) Pfeiffer; three sons, Michael (Tina) Fluhr, Andrew (Sandy) Fluhr, and Brandon Allen; one brother, Herman "Butch" (Amanda) Sweet; four sisters, Patricia "Pat" Amos, Sally Fluhr, Dixie (Ed) Robinson, and Deborah (Ira "Ike") Hurtt; twenty-six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and numerous great great grandchildren. Florence was a proud member of a large and loving family, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Funeral service for Florence Powers will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be prior to the service Wednesday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at Kimberlin Creek Cemetery, Scottsburg, Indiana.
