Florence Erma Ryan

Florence Erma Ryan peacefully passed away at her home in La Veta, Colorado awakening early in heaven on July 2nd, 2024.
She was born to A.L. (Bill) and Erma Gately Weeks during the dust bowl days in Oklahoma. As a young girl the family, including older brothers Fay and Floyd, settled in the Gardner, Colorado area. Upon arriving in Colorado and gazing at the huge mountains for the first time she was briefly frightened by their overwhelming sight. The fear quickly turned to love and she could rarely part from them throughout her life. She attended school in Gardner and Walsenburg, Colorado.
For 61 years Florence was blessed with a marriage to the love of her life, Ray Ryan, whom she met while living on the JM Ranch. They were married on February 4, 1954, and proudly raised four children, Donnie, Ronnie, Robert and Bonnie. During the 1960's as Ray continued to do ranch work in the area the family moved to La Veta. Florence maintained her focus as a homemaker, staying very involved in her children's lives through their school and 4-H activities and raising large gardens to feed the family. Her favorite hobby was embroidering and gifting numerous tea towel sets, baby blankets and bibs to celebrate and welcome babies to their new families and lives.
Florence's relationship with Christ was unwavering and she lived her life as an example of true faith. She and Ray were active in the Mountain View Baptist Church in which they helped to build.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, husband Donald Ray Ryan, sons Robert and Donnie and grandson Chad May.
She is survived by son Ronnie (Sissy) of Pueblo West, daughter Bonnie Robbe of La Veta, daughters-in-law Theresa Ryan of Battle Mountain, NV, and Debi Newman of Fruita, CO. Florence also leaves behind Grandchildren Gary (Camery) Ryan of La Veta, Jimmy (Heather) Robbe of Amarillo, TX, Jessica (Jeremiah) Blaha of Pueblo, Colorado, Tina Robbe of La Veta, Candi (AJ) Armstrong of Fruita, CO, Christina Mortimore of Battle Mountain, NV and Jarrod Salmon of Marietta, GA, and three Great-Grandchildren Andrew Mortimore, Donnie Ray Robbe and Rebekah Robbe with numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved Chihuahua Squirt.
