Florence T. Shamberger, born on January 28, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2025, in Annandale, Virginia. She was a remarkable individual whose life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and a profound dedication to personal growth.
Florence devoted a significant part of her career as an office secretary for Dr. Loffler, where her attention to detail and commitment to service left a lasting impression. Her life was marked not only by her professional endeavors but also by her profound commitment to spiritual development and her long-standing membership in Al Anon. Her journey was one of continuous improvement, both personally and in the lives of those around her.
She graduated with honors from Patterson High School in Baltimore City in 1957 and further pursued her passion for helping others by attending nursing school. Her educational achievements laid a strong foundation for her career and life principles, which she carried with dignity and grace.
Florence will be remembered for her indomitable spirit and compassionate nature. She was the keeper of family histories, ensuring that the stories of her loved ones lived on. A woman of many talents, she expressed her creativity through arts and crafts, leaving behind cherished memories and tangible reminders of her love.
An avid reader, Florence amassed a library of thousands of books, reflecting her curiosity and thirst for knowledge. She enjoyed staying connected with her family, taking great joy in the growth and development of her nieces, nephews, and their children, always ready with encouragement and support.
Florence takes pride in identifying her sons as her proudest achievements, forever cherishing the time spent nurturing and guiding them. She leaves behind a legacy of love and encouragement, serving as an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Roland Tressler, and her sister-in-law, Susan Tressler. Additionally, she is survived by her nephews Erik Sunday and Kurt Tressler, as well as her nieces Karen Soenckson and Candace Welty, along with their children: Kayleigh Soenckson, Morgan Soenckson, Cole Soenckson, Jillian Soenckson, Alistair Sunday, Tabitha Soenckson, Esme Sunday, and Roland Welty.
Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard "Dick" Shamberger, her sons Stuart Lyle and Stephen, her sister Marie Louise Sunday, her brother-in-law James Sunday, and her nephew Roland Tressler Jr.
Florence T. Shamberger will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and love for family.
