Florence Elizabeth Starks, my little Diva, a beacon of love and hope, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 92, in Odessa, Texas. Born on December 6, 1932, in Summit, New Jersey, Florence's life was a testament to the power of optimism and faith. Her journey on this earth may have concluded, but the legacy she leaves behind will continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know her.

Florence was the cherished daughter of the late Winnie (Marsh) Starks and Edward Starks, and grew up surrounded by the love of her brothers, Russell and Morris Starks, and her sister, Roberta Marshall, all of whom preceded her in death. Her family foundation instilled in her the values of compassion and service that would define her life's work.

Her passion for education led her to pursue a bachelor's degree in education, specializing in working with special needs children. Florence dedicated her career to ensuring that every child felt valued and empowered, transforming countless lives with her unwavering support and belief in their potential. Her remarkable ability to see the best in everyone and her dedication to her work changed the landscape of special education in her community.

Florence's life was a living example of her faith. She was a faithful member of her church, where she cultivated a community of love and support that extended far beyond the church walls. Her faith was her guiding light, and she shared that light generously, touching the hearts of many with her kindness and unwavering spirit.

Those who knew Florence would describe her as loving, faith-filled, and optimistic. She approached every day with a smile that could brighten even the darkest of rooms. Her laughter was infectious, her encouragement was steadfast, and her ability to love unconditionally was unparalleled. She was a mentor, a confidante, and a friend to all, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Those left to cherish her love and memories are her long-time caregiver and friend, Marjorie Tencio and her husband Jannio Torres and their son's Omar E Guerra and Jannio Alejandro Torres Ramos, cousin, Clara Stuart as well as her precious fur babies, Lucky, Jackson, Estrella and Bruno Tencio.

Florence's life was a beautiful journey of joy, resilience, and boundless love. She inspired us to face each day with hope, to cherish our connections with others, and to live our lives with purpose. As we remember Florence Elizabeth Starks, let us carry her spirit with us, embracing each moment with the same passion and positivity that she embodied so perfectly.

Today, as the sun rises and sets, we are reminded that Florence's light will never truly fade. It will continue to shine in the lessons she taught, the lives she touched, and the love she spread. We are all better for having known her, and her memory will be a guiding star for us all. Rest in peace, dear Florence. Your journey on earth has ended, but your story will continue to be told, inspiring generations to come with your remarkable legacy of love and faith.

Viewing will begin 11 am on Wednesday, September 3rd in Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm.
