Florence Zekich Obituary
Florence Zekich 89, a cherished resident of New Lenox, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024 with family by her side. Born in Chicago to the late Lawrence and Mary Ciebiera, Florence was the beloved wife of the late John Zekich; loving and devoted mother to Deborah (Steven Tempel) Zekich, MarySusan Zekich, Lisa (Erich) Stefans, and Tina Zekich.
She was a very proud grandmother to Mitchell (Natalia) Stefans, Nicholas Tempel, Jacob Stefans, Joshua (Shannon) Stefans, Taylor Tempel, WenLi Zekich, Anthony Z. Gaik, and Colton Gaik. She was blessed to be an aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Florence found immense joy in her senior activities up until her final days. Her vibrant spirit shone through in her love for bingo, her cherished friendships, and her passion for romance novels. A devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, White Sox, Hallmark Channel, and the Game Show Network, her warmth, kindness, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Florence's name to Gaurdian Angel Community Service, Joliet, IL would be appreciated. Guardian Angel Community Services
A visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 3:00–8:00 pm., Chapel prayers will be the following morning at the funeral home at 9:30 am, followed by Mass of Christian burial at St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox at 10:00 am., Interment to follow Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Orland Park, IL.
