Florene Phena Braune

Florene Phena (Pullin) Braune, 97, of Cost, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025. Florene was born in Gonzales, TX on August 13, 1928, as the youngest of ten children to James and Nettie (Caraway) Pullin.
She married the love of her life, Elmo Braune, on August 22, 1947. Together, they built a home and a life in Cost, where they lived side by side for 36 years. On their farm, Florene and Elmo raised cattle, chickens, and two sons-Ricky and Jeff-instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience. Florene was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker whose warmth and strength touched everyone who knew her. In 2000 after 53 years she left the farm and moved to Gonzales where she lived out the remainder of her life. As a committed long time member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gonzales, she exemplified unwavering faith and devotion to God, living as a true servant of Christ.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Dinah Braune; granddaughters Bethanie LaTourette (Bobby) of College Station and Kiley Garrett (Matt) of Austin; great- grandchildren Addison and Rowan LaTourette of College Station; sister Vedna Kirkland of Seguin and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Elmo Braune; son Ricky Braune; parents James and Nettie Pullie; brothers Denver and Buddy Pullin; sisters Ura Rutledge, Ruby Nesbitt, Ester Mikeska, Fay Mudd, Wilma Hopkins and Neva Hopkins She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with a funeral service following the visitation at 10:00a.m. with Rev. Dr. Matt Pennington officiating. Interment to follow at Hermann Sons Cemetery. Pallbearers include Bobby LaTourette, Matt Garrett, James Pullin, Cole Stevens, Kenneth Brown, Rickey Gibson, Ronnie Tate, and Sandy Vollentine.
All services are under the care and direction of Seydler - Hill Funeral Home of Gonzales, Texas
