Florene Shuflin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 11, 2024.
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Florene Shuflin, who journeyed into eternal rest on November 29, 2024, at the age of 90. Florene was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother born on August 11, 1934, to Lloyd and Jettie Bradley in a small Oklahoma community.
Florene was preceded in death by her cherished parents, her dear sister Oneta Frances Gregg, her brother Orville Glenn Bradley, her two beloved sons, Jay Montgomery and Terry Shawn Smith, and her grandson, Rickie Littlefield.
Florene is survived by her three daughters: Sherry Lynn Hoffpauir of Marshall, Texas; Karla Kay Hoover of Jefferson, Texas; and Julianne Littlefield of New Ulm, Texas and son: Jeffery Mitchell Montgomery, of Lafayette, Louisianna. She also leaves behind her grandsons, Eugene Catanzaro of New Jersey; Shawn Hoover of Georgia; Robert Bradley Montgomery of Louisiana; and granddaughters, Jaime Russo of Louisiana; Rachel LaRue of Texas; Erin Holloway of Texas, and Hannah Montgomery of Georgia. As well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Florene lived a life filled with adventure and discovery, having called 28 cities her home throughout her lifetime. Her wanderlust drove her to seek new experiences and to touch the lives of countless individuals across the country. It was at the age of 50 that she embarked on an academic
journey, earning a degree in Social Work and a Master's in Sociology, all while maintaining an impressive GPA of 3.7.
Her intelligence and dedication were admired by her peers and professors alike. A passionate advocate for well-being, Florene's heart and
soul were woven into her teachings of yoga and meditation. She believed in the powerful connection between body and mind, encouraging others to find peace and stillness in their lives. Her classes were a sanctuary, offering gentleness and wisdom, and guiding others on their personal journeys to wellness.
Among her many interests, Florene found deep solace in gospel music, which nourished her spirit and enriched her life. Her love for melody and heartfelt messages created connections that transcended words, drawing friends and family together for nights of singing and storytelling.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Florene is now at peace and reunited with her loved ones in the everlasting embrace of family.
In honor of her memory, let us strive to embrace adventure, seek knowledge, find balance, and spread love through music, just as Florene did throughout her beautiful life.
Rest in peace, Florene. Your light will forever shine in our hearts.
