Jose Luis Gaytan Llanas, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 52 in Katy, Texas. Born on December 6, 1973, in Monterrey, Mexico, he was the son of Domingo and Gabriela Llanas Gaytan. Jose was formally from Wallis, Texas, where he spent his formative years and graduated from Sealy High School. For many years, he displayed unwavering dedication in his career, first with Stewart and Stevenson, and then with Schlumberger in Brookshire, Texas. Jose’s commitment to his work was a testament to his strong character and work ethic, traits admired by his colleagues and peers.
Jose was known for his deep love for his family, which included his devoted wife of 30 years, Veronica Flores Gaytan, and their cherished children, Cristian Domingo Gaytan and Cassandra Mia Gaytan. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Gabriela Gaytan Llanas, and his siblings: Juan (Maria Guadalupe) Gaytan, Robert (Juany) Gaytan, Barbara (Leonal) Garza, and Graciela (Angel Ramirez) Gaytan, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family members and dear friends who will deeply miss him.
He is preceded in death by his father: Domingo Gaytan, sister: Cenobia Gaytan, and brother: Jose Ines Gaytan.
Jose embraced life actively, often found enjoying hobbies such as mechanicing, floating the Guadalupe River, road trips, grilling, being outdoors with his close friends and family, and going to the movie theater. These passions brought him joy and fulfillment, enriching the lives of those who shared these experiences with him.
Jose faced health challenges in his later years, battling the end stages of chronic kidney disease. He suffered a massive heart attack, leading to his passing due to medical complications.
Visitation will be held at Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville, Texas, on February 18, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary service at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place the following day, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy, Texas, starting at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Roberto Gaytan, Juan Gaytan, John Flores, Juan Sanchez, Fidel Rosas, Robert Gaytan, Jr., Freddy Rosas, and Moses Longoria.
Honorary Pallbearers are Rene Rosas, Miguel Rosas, and Cristian Gaytan.
Jose Luis Gaytan Llanas will be remembered for his loving spirit, his commitment to family, and the memories he created with those he loved. His legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
