Floribeth de los Angeles Pope

Floribeth de Los Angeles Pope (maiden name Floribeth de Los Angeles Beita Venegas) was a delightful and happy person, always thinking of other people. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. A wonderful wife and friend who touched so many lives along the way. She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025 at the age of 54. This after a courageous battle with a relentless, aggressive lung cancer.

She was born in Volcan de Buenos Aires in her beloved country of Costa Rica on June 5, 1970. She attended primary school in her hometown and completed secondary school in a town a little further away. For her university studies, she achieved a career as a primary school teacher. She continued teaching until she needed to devote more time to her children. Following this, she was presented with an opportunity for a scholarship in nursing which allowed her to exemplify her natural talent of caring for others. She continued practicing in the Costa Rica Hospital system, where she continued to share her God given gift of service with the patients that she cared for.

She was a person who loved her family, her husband and was cheerful, generous, optimistic, and loved God with all her heart. In May 2012 she married Dr. John Pope, Jr and moved to the United States. They shared a blissfully, happy and loving marriage until her final breath. She was adventuresome. She loved the outdoors. She loved visiting the national parks, the state parks, local parks, and I think part of that was because she loved every opportunity to have a picnic. It was sort of a joy of hers to sort of just sit in the parks at a park bench and have a picnic. Something very simple but very meaningful to her and to me. During our marriage, her desire for travel was awakened, and she truly enjoyed traveling seeing different cultures meeting different people seeing different landscapes anything that was involving the outdoors was just a joy for her. While living in the United States she decided to go through the process of becoming a United States citizen and she achieve this goal and was a dual citizen for most of her time in the United States and she was very proud of this. Most people don’t know this, but she was a very good golfer. At times, she was really a challenge for me and other people in our group because she was so consistent. She became an avid swimmer after taking several swimming lessons from a professional teacher in Pompano Beach. At our Condominium in Pompano Beach she was affectionately known as the swimming lady by the many people who didn’t know her name. You could see her almost every morning swimming laps in our Condominium swimming pool.

And of course she was a very encouraging and faithful person, such that even during her final days in the hospital, she urged those around her to be strong and stay faithful in God.

She was predeceased by her father, Rafael Beita Hinrichs, her mother Clara Venegas Castro, and her son Fabián Danielle Ramirez Beita. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. John Pope, Jr, her brother Carlos Beita Venegas, her sister Hanny Beita Venegas, her son Josué Ramirez Beita, three grandchildren, many aunts and uncles and cousins. She will be long remembered by all whom she met, and loved forever by her husband.
