Florinda Chavez Blas, aged 77, was born on January 18, 1947, to Paula Chavez and Silvino Blas. She peacefully departed on June 15, 2024, in Llano, Texas, USA, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was a mother of five children: Clemente Rivera, Salvador Rivera, Gloria Perez, Janet Rivera-Jones, and Orfelina Antonio. Florinda was a remarkable businesswoman and entrepreneur. She was distinguished by her bright, floral outfits that reflected her vibrant personality. She was known for her sharp sense of humor and love of the kitchen. She often said, "Lo mío es la cocina. Si piedras me ponen a cocinar, piedras cocino." Cooking was her love language, filling her children's and grandchildren's hearts and stomachs with warmth and affection. Her legacy lives on through her recipes, which are forever captured in the comforting aroma of guiso stewing on the stove, and in her legendary homemade chorizo. She immigrated from Mexico to the United States, overcoming challenges as a single mother to provide for her children. Florinda was adored by her twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by her six siblings: Natividad Davalos, Gloria Lozano, Adan Blas, Eva Arceo, and Victor C. Blas. Florinda's legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will forever live on in the hearts of her family. She now rests peacefully, just as she wished: "Yo para descansar, solo en mi casita, en mi camita."
