FLORINE "FLUTIE" FOX

April 12, 1927 – June 17, 2025

Florine "Flutie" Fox passed away on June 17th, 2025, following a year long struggle with alzheimers and dementia.

Flutie was born to Wayde and Faye Smith on April 12th, 1927 in Emporia, Kansas. At the age of nine, she and her family moved to Bakersfield.

Jack's work took them away from Bakersfield for a number of years, but in 1977, following his untimely death, she returned to Bakersfield.

Flutie was a strong, energetic woman who loved her family, dancing, and morning coffee while doing crossword puzzles. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and collecting shoes and kitchen gadgets.

She is survived by her son, Ronald (Karen), four grandchildren: Robin Davis, Ronald Fox Jr (Andrea), Jacquelynn Wichman (Jared), and Carolyn Fox; three Great Grandchildren Helena Allison, Mary Davis, and Colin Fox, her younger brother Gary Smith, brother in law Steve Urner, nephews Michael Urner (Candi), great niece Sara Urner, and David Urner, along with numerous other beloved sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Jack her husband of 29 yrs, her older brother Floyd Smith and her sister Carol Ann Urner.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 10th at Hillcrest Memorial Park, at 1PM in chapel with graveside to follow.
