**Obituary for Floyd Vestal Carr**
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Floyd Vestal Carr, who has left this world on March 28, 2026, at the age of 88 and gone to be with the Lord. Born on January 1, 1938, in Johnson City, TN, Floyd was an active member of the community and a dedicated family man. He will be remembered not just for his work as a Chemical Operator at Eastman, but for his unwavering commitment to his passions and the people around him.
Floyd was more than his job; he was a farmer, a longtime member of the Cherry Grove Church, and a familiar face volunteering at the Cherry Grove food pantry. His persistent spirit and enterprising nature made him a cherished figure in Jonesborough. He believed in helping others, and his kindness was a cornerstone of his life. Those who knew him will fondly remember his favorite saying, "You’ll like this," which perfectly encapsulated both his work ethic and his sense of humor. Floyd could often be seen cruising the farm on his four wheeler.
Floyd was preceded in death by parents Cyrus & Lucy Carr; wife of 63 years Nancy C Carr, brothers Elmer, Willie, Roby, Melvin, Earnest, and Joe; one sisters Sarah.
He is survived by his loving son, Mark & (Phyllis) Carr, granddaughter Angie & (Joe) Engle; great grandson Anthony Engle; Several nieces and nephews; and one special niece Lisa Simpson. Who will carry Floyd's legacy forward.
The Carr family will have a graveside service Thursday April 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Washington Co. Memory Gardens. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in honoring him as they gather to reflect on the cherished memories and the impact he had on so many lives. Details regarding the funeral service will be shared soon, and all who knew Floyd are welcome to pay their respects and share stories of the good times spent together. Rev. E.L. Wheeler will officiate services, and Queenie Dugger will perform musical selections.
As we say goodbye to Floyd, may we carry with us the lessons of persistence, resilience, kindness, and community that he embodied every day.
