Dr. Floyd Jerome "Jerry" Davis II, age 89, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Stonebridge Senior Care Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Jerry was born the son of Floyd Jerome and Florence (Sheil) Davis on September 27, 1935, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Jerry graduated from St. Joseph Academy, Chillicothe, Missouri. He attended Northwest Missouri State University Maryville Missouri, receiving a bachelor's degree. Jerry served in the United States Army for 2 years. He then received a DDS degree from the UMKC School of Dentistry. He had his own private dentistry practice for 25 years, and then worked for the Chillicothe Correctional Center for 10 years until retirement. He was united in marriage to Rose Lee Rupp on August 20, 1960. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2021.
Jerry was a member of the St. Columban Catholic Church, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was very active in the church, having served as a Deacon for 25 years. Over the course of those years, Jerry participated in many baptisms, marriages, and funerals. He and his wife, Rose Lee, were very involved in Marriage Encounter for many years, and had the privilege of helping many other married couples.
Jerry was an avid runner, having participated in many marathons, and ran a marathon at the age of 65. He was active in many plays provided by the Chillicothe Fine Arts Council and had many leading roles in those plays.
He is survived by two sons, Jerome Davis (Susan) Chillicothe, Missouri and John Davis (Becky) Yellville, Arkansas; one daughter, Cynthia Nelson (Dave) Punta Gorda, Florida; and 4 grandchildren, Shannon Rose Nelson, Stephen Ryan Nelson, Taylor Martin Davis and Andrew Paul Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rose Lee; and daughter Monica Anne Mild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., thirty minutes prior to Mass. Inurnment will be held at St. Columban Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest O.
