Age 82, of Manteno, Illinois, formerly of Chicago and Hazel Crest, Illinois, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.
Born on October 8, 1942, in Crosby, North Dakota, Floyd Elmer was the son of Edwin and Irene (Johnson) Fordahl. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Wescott High School with the Class of 1960. Floyd married Dorothy Traynere on October 10, 1964, just two days after his birthday. He later joined the United States Air Force, serving four years of active duty in Vietnam and two years in the reserves. After his time in the military Floyd worked as a machinist for Inserco Manufacturing Company for over 35 years.
He enjoyed simple pleasures, including watching television, especially old western movies, riding bikes, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was also known for never skipping a meal.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children: Donald (Kelli) Fordahl of Manteno, Marc (Tonya) Fordahl of Momence, Illinois, Alison (Matthew) Skaggs of Bourbonnais, Illinois; grandchildren: Donald (Alex) Fordahl, Ian and Natalie Fordahl, Jodi and Wyatt Wackerlin, Katlynn Moffatt, Michael Fordahl, Olivia and Ella Skaggs; great grandchildren: Rosabella, Ariella, Amelia, Stella, Ryker, and Frankie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Fordahl, and sister, Ruby Fordahl.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington, Illinois on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Cremation rites will follow, and he will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery and will receive full military honors.
