Floyd Farha, Jr., 85, went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2018. He was born August 1, 1933, in Shattuck, OK, to parents Floyd and Naomi Farha. He grew up in Wichita, KS, with his two older brothers, Walter and Alfred, and his younger sister, Sharon Kaye. He had fond memories of working in his family's grocery business where he developed a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. On August 24, 1958, he married the love of his life, Janet Joy Farha, and they moved to Dayton, OH, where he served in the Air Force. Following the Air Force, he completed his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Kansas. They then moved to Bartlesville, OK, and he began his 21 year career with Phillips Petroleum Company. Upon leaving Phillips, he and Janet relocated to Oklahoma City where he started several companies, including his latest, Chemical Products Industries, Inc. His employees were a second family to him. Over the duration of his career, he authored over 85 patents and enjoyed traveling worldwide, often with Janet. His true passion and devotion was to his wife of nearly 60 years and his four daughters. While in Bartlesville, the family attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he held leadership positions on the Vestry. He was a devoted father and was actively involved in his daughters' lives, volunteering in their schools, coaching them in sports, and supporting their musical endeavors. He had a strong belief in the value of higher education and instilled the love of learning in his children and 12 grandchildren. He was so proud of each and every one of them and their varied interests and accomplishments. He also remained devoted to his daughters' alma mater, the University of Oklahoma, where he regularly was seen at academic and sporting events. His unending love and commitment to his "girlfriend" Janet (as he liked to call her) was evident by the way he loved and cared for her until the day he died. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and daughters, Marlys (Steve) Bratton, Jennifer (Patrick) Landon, Andrea Miller, Jill (Matthew) Mountain. He is also survived by grandchildren: Reid and Kyle Bratton; Melanie (Nathan) Casteel, David, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Nick Landon; Kelsey Miller; and Ashley, Drew, Nate, and Josh Mountain. He is also survived by his two sister in-laws and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. The family would like to give special thanks to the aides who assisted Floyd in caring for Janet. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 15, from noon to 9pm with the family present from 7-9 pm at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 16, at 10 am at St. Paul's Cathedral, 127 NW 7th St., OKC. Interment will be held on Friday, August 17, at 12:30 pm at Old Mission Cemetery, 3424 East 21st, Wichita, KS. Lunch reception to follow. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, St. Paul's Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, or St. George Orthodox Christian Cathedral, 7515 E. 13th Street, Wichita, KS 67026.
