Floyd "Sean" Mize

Floyd Wayne Mize, known as Sean Mize, passed peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025, with his wife, Maruja, and son, Nathan, by his side at home in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was born August 12, 1967 in Tulare, California. He was adopted by his parents Harvey Mize and Beulah Hendrix when he was about two years old.

He attended schools and graduated from High School in Noble, Oklahoma in 1985. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from 1985 to 1989. While he was in the Military he attended Nursing School and was married and had a son Aaron and was stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged from the US Army at the rank of Specialist E-4.

After his military service, he worked in various nursing homes and facilities and was also was a manager of a Pest Control Company. He also attended College at the Oklahoma Community College and had a second son Matthew Mize. In 2007 Sean met his future wife Maruja Villaruel from the Philippines and they were married in 2010. The couple later had a son Nathan Mize.

Sean is survived by his wife Maruja Mize and son Nathan Mize of Grand Junction, Colorado and his son Matthew Mize of Whitewater, Colorado. Also surviving are his two cousins Henry Mize and Teresa Lyday of Oklahoma.

The Viewing will be held on Friday December 19 from 1pm to 3 pm at Legacy Funeral Home located at 3196 Mesa Avenue, Grand Junction, Colorado (970) 312-1399.
