Floyd David "DJ" Newby, Jr.

Graveside service for Floyd David “DJ” Newby, Jr., age 51, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Sharp Cemetery, Yantis, Texas with Bobby Hutson, Garrett Shipley, Kaleb Hoelscher, Darell Butler, Jaxon Harville, and Cade Dennis servicing as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Poe. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home, Sulphur Springs, Texas. Mr. Newby passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

Floyd David “DJ” Newby, Jr. was born on January 13, 1973 in Fort Worth, Texas to Floyd David and Phyllis Ann (Pepper) Newby. DJ enjoyed fishing, old cars, mechanic work, and tinkering on his truck. He always enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephew and best friend for over 40 years, Tommy Poe.

DJ is survived by his father, Floyd David Newby, Sr. of Conroe, Texas; step-father, Dean Carter of Sulphur Springs, Texas; sister, Velma Newby (Billy Harville) of Sulphur Springs, Texas, half-sister, Mary McCarty Smith of Denison, Texas; nieces, Georgia Bailey and Topanga Bailey, step-niece, Avary Harville; step-nephew, Jaxson Harville; and best friend for 40 years, Tommy Poe all of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Ann Pepper Carter; grandparents, Elvin and Mary Louis Pepper, Paul Edward and Nita Jean Newby; and brothers, Robert McDaniel, Jr. and Robert Roberts.
