Floyd E. Nicholson

Nicholson - In Loving Memory of Floyd E. Nicholson, age 82, of Macclenny, Florida passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the Morris Care Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in North Carolina on June 8, 1943, and moved to Baker County as a young adult. He lived a life defined by love, hard work, loyalty, and simple joys. Floyd was a skilled carpenter by trade and spent many years contributing to the building of local homes and businesses throughout the community. His hands helped shape the very place he called home, and his work stands as a quiet reminder of his dedication, talent, and strong work ethic. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: a good game of pool, classic westerns on television, dirt track races, watching Florida Gator football, and especially a spirited game of "Go Fish" with his grandson. Those small, ordinary moments were the ones he treasured most. His little lap companion, Dixie, also brought him comfort and constant companionship. Floyd built lasting friendships wherever he went. The team at Waffle House became like extended family to him - they knew his order before he even had to say a word. Walking through those doors always felt like coming home. It was there that he formed a special bond with Buck Koon. What started as sharing a table turned into a friendship that resembled brotherhood - inseparable, full of laughter, stories, and a deep, genuine love for one another. Floyd's greatest pride was his family. He never missed an opportunity to show up and support his grandchildren in whatever they were doing - whether it was football, dance, graduation, or any special moment in their lives. Being present meant everything to him. Floyd will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and found joy in the people around him. His steady presence, warm heart, and unwavering support for his family will be missed more than words can express. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave and the life he built will continue on in all who knew him. Forever loved and dearly missed. Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine Nicholson, whom he loved deeply and faithfully.

Floyd leaves behind his devoted daughter, Karen (Stanley) Posey; his granddaughter, Amanda (Tom) Rewis; and his precious great-grandchildren, Chelsey Barber and Cade Rewis.

A Celebration of Floyd's Life will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 1:00 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
