Floyd Douglas Simpson, 77, of Lewisberry, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was the son of the late Floyd and Gladys (Adkins) Simpson, born on April 23, 1946 in Charleston, WV.
Raised in West Virginia, he was a 1963 graduate of South Charleston High School and went on to graduate from West Virginia University. In 1967, he began employment with the U.S. Department of Transportation in Charleston, WV. In the mid-1970s, he would relocate to the Harrisburg office (Ronald Reagan Federal Building), where he spent the remainder of his 41-year career, retiring in 2008.
Floyd and his family enjoyed summer vacations to Outer Banks, NC, and he would always make time to sneak in some saltwater fishing. He was extremely handy, helping his boys with a variety of projects throughout their lives. Floyd was a big NASCAR fan, and he and his late wife, Carol, enjoyed a house full of cats. His family finds comfort in knowing that he and Carol are together again.
